We Trade a lot, but we're also lazy!
If you're a trader, there is no way you want to spend the end of each day or a weekend punching in your trades! That's why Stocklog+ came into existence. We are traders ourselves, with multiple broker accounts, and looked high-to-low for a way to simply journal/diary/log our trades but ran into several walls:
1. All free journals were spreadsheets. We tried many of them and each time we started, the same problem presented itself:
"This is very tedious! Why do I need to type all this stuff in? It takes forever! And I keep making typos because I'm irritated!!"
This made us drop that idea within about three attempts! It just doesn't work long-term. The spreadsheets start to get a little wonky to work with and if your a day trader or make a low fifty to a high of several hundred trades a year - it's not sustainable.
2. We found online journals but the bait-and-switch didn't sit well with us.
- It's 'free' for basic entry or so-many-trades, but quickly moves to 'pay up' to do ANYTHING else. Now, its not the 'subscription' that's the problem, it's the PRICE of the subscription! All the useful actions are behind the subscription wall, I would have just preferred they said it's $180-$1000/yr and be done with it!
- The free ones were just spreadsheets online, again, you will quickly looped-back to issue #1
- Most are connected to a trading or teaching platform that I didn't want anything to do with, we just want to journal
- The ability to import other broker data was almost impossible, they want you to trade with their partner(s) - not looking for another broker!
3. Who owns the data and where is it coming from?
- They want you to connect your broker account to their platform in order to import... WHAT! Who are these 'people'?! There is NO WAY we're giving someone access to our accounts just so we can journal - that's a non-starter!!
- Not sure about you, but we're sick-and-tired of building-up a companies database of information on us just so they can turn around and sell it all. The Terms & Conditions 'say' they won't... until they do.
- Most of them don't mention it, but you don't own the data you've entered AND there is no way to export it if you wanted to leave! Looks like your starting over - again!
- We want to control our own data - period.
So at the end of they day, we decided the only way to find something we can really use is to just make it! That's how most things come into existence 😉!
Stocklog+ is simple to use, quickly allows you to journal manually if that's your preferred way to go, but most importantly, Stocklog+ can import many different broker CSV files and continues to improve as we receive CSV files from the community to analyze and bake into the application.
So give it a try, you don't have to sign-up for anything and the demo mode never expires, so try it at your own speed. The subscription is month-to-month, no need to get someone on the phone or swap e-mails for three weeks to cancel; of course, we hope you find Stocklog+ beneficial, but we know it may not be for everyone and we don't want to lock you into a crazy subscription that takes a Presidential Pardon just to cancel!
